Six things about a night in West Allis...
One.
It was HOT in this place. Hot. As in, 'damn, open a window or something' hot.
Two.
Jeff was possessed during 'Annie'. Not kidding. Possessed. Thought about calling in a priest. If his head starts spinning at a future show...I'm outta there before he goes full on Linda Blair. No joke.
Three.
'Can't'. The double jump done by the singer and the guitarist is funny as all get out. Great start to a fantastic song! Sets the mood-which is...happy. At least for me...
Four.
'Danny Boy'-with a Bob Seger song bass line?? Was that what I heard? Shut up. Get out!
Five.
The Sandcarvers rap. (well, some of them) Yes, yes they do. I see you shaking your head 'no'-but it's true! The band did the longest version of 'Drowsy' ever-complete with rappin'. AJ started it off with a simple "go tommy go tommy go" chant-and then there was rap chaos.
Try to follow: I dare you. (maybe you had to be there?) Things got rolling with "Peanut butter jelly time peanut butter jelly time"-and a song about a dog and railroad tracks and poop? Really? -Sir Mix A Lot- "I like big butts and I can not lie You other brothers can't deny That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist And a round thing in your face You get sprung" oh, and it wouldn't be a rap medley without some Sugarhill 'Rapper's Delight' "i said a hip hop the hippie the hippie to the hip hip hop, a you dont stop the rock it to the bang bang boogie say up jumped the boogie"
It happened. It was CRAZY funny.
Six.
There was an impromptu, albeit short-rendition of 'Jessie's Girl' done. Hehehe. Yay for Rick! (ha! I got to mention Rick S. in a SC review!)
